The corporation’s seven business units ensure activities are consistent with, and deliver upon, Balkanu’s mission and the policies and programs determined by the directors.
Balkanu Head Office:
- provides strategic support and direction to business units
- manages key relationships with traditional owners and the corporate, government and philanthropic sectors, and
- manages finances, human resources and marketing.
Caring for Country:
- delivers the Traditional Knowledge Recording Project
- assists traditional owners to manage their natural and cultural resources, and
- facilitates traditional owner involvement in various committees and projects.
Cape York Business Development:
- supports enterprise development in Cape York, and
- provides business support services to individuals and groups including feasibility studies, business planning and mentoring.
Cape York Digital Network:
- delivers information and communication technology services, including public internet access and video conferencing.
Cape York Policy:
- develops, articulates and champions policies and strategies that support the goals of the Cape York Agenda.
Infrastructure:
- delivers the Low Cost Housing Project that facilitates reciprocity and co-ordination between Cape York families, the government and corporate sectors.
Land Reform:
- facilitates tenure resolution, land access and land acquisitions for traditional owners.
